1. Custom Officers and Car Auctions:

The oldest yet somehow most effective scam; they send you request in custom uniform most likely stolen then come inbox to tell you about car auctions for seized vehicles at give away prizes; contact Mr so and So he is in charge, You pay for the car, pay for driver and because they are greedy and you are desperate they keep making up stories and you keep paying " sort police, hand break spoilt" then when they have run out of lies they switch off their phones.

2. "Celebrity" scams:

They send you requests with celebrity pictures, could be pastors, actors or politicians. For Pastors it is always some prophecy you should donate to an orphanage a specific amount, they will give you the orphanage number, scam.
Celebrities they will convince you that you are the next top Model or actor just send money for audition and registration.
For Politicians it is a job opening or contract speak to my PA.

3. " I am stranded in Lokoja send Recharge Card"; the worst and cheapest scam, they hack or clone accounts then send you an SOS with a friend's account.

4. Email hacks:
These ones almost got me they hacked my bosses account and instructed me to transfer some amount to another account, what saved me was a phone call but I hear they clone phones too so this is tricky.

5. Recruitment scam:
They have " job replacement" opportunities, they don't have family or friends it is you they want to epp for a price of cause, so you inform your parents and relatives, you have been jobless for too long, so they sell, borrow and clean up their savings, the epper convinces you it is a government Job, one or two bribes can clear off the amount you paid. You pay and they block you.

6. Love and Relationship scams:

This has the most casualties; for women they follow you and study you, what you like what you don't like, your interests, strengths and weaknesses, eg if you cook a lot they come inbox and tell you how your cooking inspires them and they also love cooking, fiam the biat has hooked, you start taking almost all day he has studied you so he knows everything about you, he says the right things clicks the right buttons he is abroad, he wants to come home and marry you. Note the first thing they do when you are comfortable with them is secure your naked picture.

He tells you the day he is coming home, you are excited, he lands in Lagos Airport you are happy then the drama starts; he got arrested or got in an accident on the way with the brand new car he shipped by plane from America for you. His mother who he ensures you speak to regularly is hypertensive he doesn't want to stress her so please send money so he can settle the police men, his money is still in the account in dollars.

Or his mother who he introduced you too had a stroke the househelp calls you, Please send money as a good daughter in law mama is dying, he claims it is a test of love and loyalty.

Or he decides to send you a " gift" but you will pay " custom duties" you are desperate for Iphone 8 even though it hasn't come out yet then the agents call you send you the account number to pay into, give you a tracking number, you pay stories, okada fell, send police money, after squeezing as much as they can they block you. They have your nude picture so they either use that to blackmail you into silence or they use it to extort more money from you.

For men, all they do is after " Hello hi" send you naked pictures they probably got from some lady they are also scamming then start listing a their family problems: rent mama sick while promising you mind blowing sex when they visit. It is important you avoid visiting any of these scammers except you are doing undercover operation with police, they will hold you hostage take your ATM and clear your account.

The next on the list are ponzi schemes coming up every 24hrs. You need to be very careful not to get enticed. Once you get addicted, even when you become a victim, it takes grace to let go.

Social media is a great place but it also has some dark characters. Be Warned. Be on alert.
